The toughest thing about that ACE exam was that I wan’t prepared and we all know who’s fault that is. While it’s true that studying the manual, study guide and practice test were helpful, it wasn’t enough. I wonder if having the live classroom experience would have better prepared me. (YES!) I know further study and experience is in my future because I really enjoy the subject and it dovetails with what I already do. ACE offers a workshop that I will attend when it’s offered in my area again, hopefully soon.
OK! About running.
Sunday’s long run was 9 miles at 10min pace over easy rolling roads. My legs were tired and achey while I was running. They were fine after the run, and today were not sore, just a little stiff. I’m thinking it’s a conditioning issue. It’s time to bump the strength training and start including plyometrics, like skips, grapevines, butt kicks, etc. in the easy runs. Did anyone read the articles on knees in the latest Runners World? Those are good functional exercises to consider, not only for protecting your knees, but to provide overall strength/balance training/timing and co-ordination work for anyone who runs.
This afternoon Dianne and I ran for an hour together on the trails behind the Y. She had run this morning on the treadmill too, so that brought her milage for the day to eleven. GO DIANNE! Since we got back, she’s been hobbling around here and groaning when she gets up from the computer. I think it’s cute no matter what she says. It was a rainy morning and overcast all day untill we got out and started running this afternoon. The sun came out and the stream next the trail was full and could be heard even when jets in the landing pattern at DFW were overhead. I hope all of you guys had a great Monday too.
Happy running!

Well done both of you!
Before you take the next ACE exam, ask them to include an option E in the multiple choice.

I did read the knee article, but I always fall asleep when it comes to the part about exercises!
